Kitty Litter Cake

(the easy version from www.YourWebMom.com)

Despite this cake’s totally disgusting appearance, it’s quite delicious! It’ll certainly make a memorable impact at your next Fall/Halloween party.
·        1 NEW plastic kitty litter pan or plastic liner (found at a pet store or a large discount store)
·        1 NEW plastic pooper scooper
·        Foil or parchment paper to line the box
·        2 boxes of white/yellow cake mixes, prepared as directed
·        2 tubs of purchased frosting (vanilla flavor or similar)
·        1 pkg. vanilla wafers, crushed (food processor, rolling pin or rubber mallet). Start with half the package and go from there.
·        A few small Tootsie Rolls ®

  1. Prepare cake mixes and bake as directed (any size pans). Cool.
  2. Crumble the cake into pieces in a large container/bowl (you might need to use TWO bowls!)
  3. Mix in the frosting gently. (You may thin the frosting with a bit of scalded milk, or just warm the tub of opened frosting for 20-25 seconds in the microwave. Remove the foil first!) You might not need all the frosting.
  4. Scrape the cake/frosting mixture into the clean, washed and lined litter box.
  5. Sprinkle the cookie crumbs onto the cake mixture.
  6. In the microwave, soften a few unwrapped Tootsie Rolls® for a few seconds (this does NOT take long!)
  7. Unwrap and roll them in your palms (like play dough) until they are an ‘appropriate’ shape to drape over the side of the box or bury in the mixture as a delightful surprise for unsuspecting guests.
  8. Place the box onto an opened newspaper, and ‘spill’ some cookie crumbs onto the paper for a truly disgusting effect!

Serve using a new pooper scooper and enjoy your guests’ reactions! A stuffed cat would really complete the setting!
